Philip Zelikow

Biography

Philip Zelikow is a chaired professor of history at the University of Virginia and this fall will transition to Stanford University as a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution. An attorney and former career diplomat, his federal service includes work in the five administrations from Reagan through Obama. He has also led three bipartisan national policy investigations, including the 9/11 Commission and, most recently, the Covid Crisis Group whose acclaimed report, Lessons from the Covid War, was published in April. Last month, his essay written with Lawrence Summers and Robert Zoellick, "The Other Counteroffensive to Save Ukraine: A New European Recovery Program," was published in Foreign Affairs.
