About Us
The Aspen Strategy Group (ASG)’s mission is to convene decision-makers in resolutely nonpartisan public and private forums to address key foreign policy challenges facing the United States. Founded in 1984 by William Perry, Brent Scowcroft, and Joseph S. Nye, Jr., the Aspen Strategy Group is a bipartisan group of members from government, academia, business, and the media. Led by Co-Chairs Nicholas Burns and Condoleezza Rice, Executive Director Anja Manuel, and Director Niamh King, the ASG organizes and hosts meetings across the three pillars of its work: the Aspen Strategy Group, the public Aspen Security Forum, and the Rising Leaders Program.
The ASG brings together its members and invited experts for our annual flagship Summer Workshop in Aspen, Track II strategic dialogues with partners around the world, and additional private, off-the-record discussions on today’s preeminent U.S. national security and foreign policy challenges.
To complement this work, our major public pillar is the Aspen Security Forum (ASF). The ASG presents the annual Aspen Security Forum, which brings together U.S. and international government officials, business executives, leading academics, and noted journalists to discuss solutions to the most pressing national security and foreign policy challenges of our time.
As a part of our commitment to cultivating the next generation of leaders in national security and foreign policy, the Rising Leaders Program, the third pillar of our work, brings together young professionals for a year-long program to contribute to the conversation on critical foreign policy issues while honing their leadership skills. At the culmination of the program, the Rising Leaders will join a lifetime network of alumni to further connect with other bold thinkers in U.S. national security and foreign policy.
