Message from our Executive Director, Anja Manuel
December 4, 2024
Dear friends and colleagues,
On the eve of 2025 and a new U.S. administration, we come together to embrace the potential for change while recognizing what endures.
We will enter this new year with continuing global challenges: war and instability in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East; persistent tensions in the Indo-Pacific; and heightened great power competition playing out globally. Around the world, voters headed to the polls this year in unprecedented numbers, bringing about new partnerships and alliances and calling existing paradigms into question.
The new year will bring potential for great advancements in areas such as AI and space, as well as novel ways of approaching current geopolitical challenges.
However, what endures is our need for thoughtful, strategic, bipartisan efforts to tackle our difficulties. In the face of global uncertainty and complexity, our ability to come together—across political divides and ideological differences—is paramount.
As many of you know, the Aspen Strategy Group’s roots and core mission is to convene decision-makers and thought leaders from across industries, sectors, and political parties to focus on the most pressing national security and foreign policy issues—together.
Thank you for joining us in this work by convening here today for the Aspen Security Forum: DC Edition in our nation’s capital.
