Rachel Bronson

Senior Advisor, Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists

Rachel Bronson is a senior advisor at the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. From February 2015 to January 2025, she served as the Bulletin’s president and CEO, leading programs, publishing, communications, fundraising, finances and stewarding the iconic Doomsday Clock. Before joining the Bulletin, Bronson served as the vice president of studies at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and as director of Middle East Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. She has taught as an adjunct professor at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and Columbia University. She received the Harry L. Davis Fellowship for Not-for-Profit Leadership (2017) from University of Chicago’s Booth School. Bronson publishes widely and her book, Thicker than Oil (Oxford University Press), is considered required reading on the topic of US-Saudi Relations. She has testified before congressional committees and commissions. Rachel received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania (1990) and her PhD from Columbia University (1997).
