Reinhard Buetikofer, born 1953, grew up in Palatinate, Germany, and Kenosha, Wisconsin. He studied at Heidelberg University. Today he is a Senior Adviser at the European Policy Centre in Brussels. He also is Co-President of the German-Taiwanese Dialogue Platform. Until 2024 he had served as a member of the European Parliament since 2009. He has been a member of the German Green Party since 1984. From 2002 to 2008 he was the German Greens’ co-chair. From 2012 to 2019 he co-chaired the European Green Party.
