Elizabeth Oakes recently graduated from Hamilton College where she received a B.A. with
Honors in World Politics with a focus on international security and U.S.-China competition.
During her time at Hamilton, Elizabeth was a Research Assistant in the Hamilton College
Policing Lab, where she researched militarized police forces around the globe. Prior to joining
the Aspen Institute, she served as an External and Government Affairs Intern at CHIPS for
America at the U.S. Department of Commerce. There, she helped facilitate relationships between
CHIPS and external stakeholders. Elizabeth also worked as a Research Intern at the American
Foreign Policy Council, where she contributed to literature for scholars within the Indo-Pacific
Security Program and China Program. Elizabeth is originally from Westchester County, New
York and she loves to try new recipes in her free time.
