David Sanger

White House and National Security Correspondent, The New York Times

David E. Sanger is White House and National Security Correspondent for the New York Times, where he has reported and written for more than four decades. He has been on three teams that have been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for investigative, national and international coverage, and won numerous awards for his coverage of national security issues. Mr. Sanger is the author of four books, including the New York Times best-seller “New Cold Wars: China’s Rise, Russia’s Invasion and America’s Struggle to Defend the West” (2024). With Graham Allison, Mr. Sanger teaches a national security course at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he is an adjunct lecturer and non-resident senior fellow.
