Elbegdorj Tsakhia, former President of Mongolia, played a key role in the country’s peaceful democratic revolution and constitutional reform. Born in Zereg, he rose from a nomadic herding family to become a journalist and statesman. He served twice as Prime Minister and was elected President in 2009 and 2013. A champion of human rights, he abolished the death penalty and promoted democratic governance, transparency, and Mongolia’s “Third Neighbor” foreign policy. A member of The Elders, Elbegdorj remains a global advocate for freedom, peace, and sustainable development.
