Nuclear Deterrence Systems Engineer, Sandia National Laboratories

Austin Scheck is a systems engineer supporting the nuclear deterrence modernization mission at Sandia National Laboratories, where his responsibilities span delivery vehicle integration, nuclear safety assurance, system-of-systems analysis, and requirement generation. An alumnus of the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Nuclear Scholars Initiative and Sandia’s inaugural Global Security University cohort, Austin is deeply interested in understanding how nuclear nonproliferation, arms control, and counterterrorism efforts augment deterrence. Prior to joining Sandia in 2021, Austin worked in international defense and intelligence programs at DigitalGlobe (now Vantor), facilitating the acquisition of high-resolution satellite imagery. He received his MS and BS in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado Boulder and is a graduate of the university’s Presidents Leadership Class.
