Scientist and Policy Professional
Steph Guerra (she/her) is a biologist and policy professional who most recently served in various roles at the Department of Veterans Affairs and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. In those roles, Steph has worked on policy development and program implementation for key policy priorities including opioids safety, precision oncology, biosecurity, and pandemic preparedness. Steph previously served as a Fellow with the Council on Strategic Risks where she worked with leading experts to generate creative ideas for ending the threat of state biological weapons programs through use of technology, international cooperation, and engagement of non-traditional actors. Steph’s professional interests include reducing the risk of catastrophic biological threats and promoting a safe and equitable scientific research enterprise. Steph received her Ph.D. in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Harvard University and her B.S. in Biological Sciences and B.A. in Hispanic Studies from Carnegie Mellon University.
