Jane Harman is a former nine term member of Congress who served as ranking member of the Intelligence Committee after 9/11. She left the House in 2011 to become the first woman President and CEO of the Wilson Center. She recently chaired the bipartisan Commission on the National Defense Strategy, which issued a unanimous report in July 2024. Harman has served on advisory boards across the intelligence, defense, homeland security, and foreign policy communities. She recently co-chaired the CFR Task Force on U.S. Space Management Policy. Harman is a trustee of the Aspen Institute, the Trilateral Commission, and Freedom House. Harman’s book, “Insanity Defense: Why Our Failure to Confront Hard National Security Problems Makes Us Less Safe,” was published by St. Martin’s Press in 2021.
