Amaney Jamal

Dean, Princeton School of Public and International Affairs

Amaney Jamal serves as Dean of the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and is the Edwards S. Sanford Professor of Politics at Princeton. She also directs the Workshop on Arab Political Development and the Bobst–AUB Collaborative Initiative. A leading scholar of the Middle East and North Africa, her work examines mass political behavior, democratization, inequality, gender, race, religion, and Muslim immigration. Her award-winning book “Barriers to Democracy” received the APSA’s 2008 Best Book Award. She earned her PhD from the University of Michigan and a BA from UCLA.
