Senior Program Officer for Security Sector Governance and Reform, U.S. Institute of Peace
Ian Platz is the Senior Program Officer for Security Sector Governance and Reform at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). His work focuses on providing innovative technical advice and coordination to USIP’s security sector governance programs and projects. Before joining the institute, Ian worked for the U.S. Department of State. His experience includes leading the development of counterterrorism law enforcement and military capacities of partner countries in East Africa and enhancing the security sector governance of Central European partner nations to provide security in an effective, transparent, and accountable manner. Ian earned both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees at Missouri State University. Although he has lived and worked in many places, his heart and soul will always belong to his childhood home of the Ozarks.
