Albert Ramchand Ramdin is a Surinamese diplomat serving as Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) since May 26, 2025. Elected on March 10, 2025, he made history as the first Secretary General from a Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member state. He brings decades of multilateral experience to the role, having served as OAS Assistant Secretary General from 2005 to 2015 and as Suriname’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business, and International Cooperation. His leadership is guided by a commitment to regional cooperation, democratic renewal, and an inclusive hemispheric agenda that addresses the needs of all member states.
