Cyber Policy Advisor, U.S. Federal Government
Sophie Faaborg-Andersen is a defense policy advisor focused on the intersection of emerging technology and national security. In her current role serving in the U.S. Government, she translates regional and functional defense strategic priorities into actionable policy options for senior leadership. From 2023 to 2025, Sophie served as an advisor in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy, where she staffed the establishment and implementation of Defense cyber strategy and plans, including those related to cyber forces, capabilities, and their employment. Previously, Sophie was an analytic systems engineer at MITRE’s National Security Engineering Center. At MITRE, she pioneered a flagship program using open-source data and applied artificial intelligence to track global technology competition. Sophie holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor’s in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
