Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is the President-elect of Belarus, Head of the United Transitional Cabinet, and leader of the country’s democratic movement. Widely recognized as the winner of the fraudulent 2020 presidential election, she was forced into exile following a brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters. Since then, she has united Belarus’s democratic forces, advocated for political prisoners, and mobilized international support for a free and democratic Belarus. Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, she was among the first leaders to condemn the aggression and support Ukraine. She continues to work toward Belarus’s peaceful democratic transition through free and fair elections.
