Chief of Research, AFWERX, Department of the Air Force
Dr. Eric Volmar is the Chief of Research at AFWERX. In this role, he explores how the Department of the Air Force can innovate more effectively, particularly by partnering with startups that create dual-use technologies. Dr. Volmar earned a PhD in Strategy, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University. As a Fellow for the Strategic Management Society, he specialized in how mission-driven organizations form strategy, organize, and compete. He was previously a management consultant at Accenture, where he worked with Silicon Valley companies undergoing digital transformations. He also conducted research on disruptive innovation at the Clayton Christensen Institute. Prior to his doctoral training, Dr. Volmar earned a BS in Accounting and a MBA from the Brigham Young University Marriott School of Business.
